Arrive at Tromsø. After checking in to your hotel, freshen up and set out to explore this beautiful and animated city located around 400 km above the Arctic Circle. You will leave the city lights behind in the evening for a chance to enjoy some of the brightest northern lights in the world. The guided tour into the wilderness gives you a taste of Sami culture as the guide will tell you tales of local customs.
After breakfast, spend the morning at leisure. After that, learn the traditional mode of Arctic transport with an experienced guide and a team of extremely friendly huskies. You will learn how to drive a dog sled after which you’re off on an exhilarating 16 km long ride through some of northern Norway’s most beautiful and uninhabited landscapes. At the end of the trail lies Camp Tamok, where all the hungry mushers are treated to a tasty feast inside a lavvu (Sami tent). If luck favors you and if you travel at the right time, the northern lights may make an appearance.
Explore Tromso at your leisure. The top attractions include the Polar Museum, the Art Museum of Northern Norway and the Arctic Cathedra. For a fascinating bird’s eye of the city, it’s worth a ride up to Mt. Storsteinen (421 m/1382 ft) on the Fjellheisen cable car. There are plenty of exciting activities you can opt for in Tromso and the surrounding area, including guided walking tours and other sightseeing excursions and tours of the “world’s northernmost brewery”, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing and more. These tours and activities can be booked locally or we can do it for you.
Start your day with a snowmobile safari in the Arctic wilderness. You will be led by an experienced guide. The excursion brings you up to heights of 875 meters above sea levels with brilliant views of the Tromso area. Try your skills at ice fishing on the frozen lake on top of the mountain if the weather permits. The Camp Tamok wilderness area is the final destination of the tour. Return to Tromso.
Enjoy the morning at leisure. In the afternoon, board the Bellvik Ferry for an evening cruise. Visit ports at small villages that date back to the Viking age. The guide will tell you about their traditions and customs and their local history. It is also an opportunity for Aurora spotting. Don’t forget to carry hats, gloves, scarves, and thermal layers.
After your adventurous week in Arctic Norway, you will head home. Head to Tromso Airport. You will be transferred to Oslo Gardermoen Airport, from where you will fly back home.
