Reykjavik

Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and located in southwestern Iceland. It was used to be a small fishing village and a trading post before the 20th century. The city is the commercial, industrial and cultural centre of Iceland. Reykjavik is assumed to be the first permanent settlement location in Iceland. The Golden Circle is undoubtedly a precious gem of geological features that can hardly found anywhere in the world. The beauty of the place is dotted with incredible landmarks and unique sites. It is a famous route in the south of Iceland. Thingvellir National Park

Thingvellir National Park is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites and also one of the best geological wonders in Iceland. The place is 45 minutes drive from Reykjavik. In 930 AD, the world’s one of the first democratic parliament was founded here. People of Iceland regard Thingvellir as a sacred place and an important stepping stone of their history. Gullfoss waterfall

Gullfoss waterfall is located in the Canyon of the Hvita river in southwest Iceland.  It is one of the most popular tourist attraction and part of the Golden Circle. It is one of the beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. The waterfall is flowing down in two stages. One stage is 11 meters high and the second stage is 21 meters high and the water is cascading down into the 2.5-kilometre long crevasse below. Geysir

Geysir is Iceland’s popular geyser located in the Haukadalur Valley. Geysir lies on the slopes of Laugarfjall hill which is also home to strokkur geyser which is 50 meters south. It is believed that Geysir came into existence in the 13th century when a series of strong earthquakes happen.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall

Iceland has a lot of waterfalls and each one is something different from the other. Seljalandsfoss waterfall is the famous one in Iceland and the main feature of the waterfall is that you can get right behind it without getting drenched through a small cave. It is located in the south region of Iceland and it is a part of the Seljalands River which originates from Eyjafjallajokull glacier volcano. The waterfall drops from a height of 60 meters.

Dyrholaey

Dyrholaey is also known as “Door hill Island” is a beautiful cape located along the coast of Iceland. Dyrholaey is 110-120 meters high located in the south of Myrdalsjokull Glacier. It is also an important nesting place for birds. You can find birds like Eider Duck, Atlantic Puffin, and the Artic Terns. If you stand on Dyrholaey you will able to see Myrdalsjokull Glacier. Skogafoss Waterfall

Skogafoss Waterfall is formed from the Skoga River in the south of Iceland. Skogafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country drop from a height of 60 meters and has a width of 25 meters. If you climb up to the waterfall then you can experience the beautiful coastline of South Iceland. Skogafoss Waterfall is unique because it comes directly from two glaciers named Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull.

Blue Lagoon geothermal spa

The Blue lagoon is the geothermal spa located on the lava field near Grindavik and in front of Porbjorn volcanic mountain. The place is famous for its milky blue water which is rich in algae, mineral salts, and silica mud. Visit Blue Lagoon is included in our Iceland tour package.

On arrival at Keflavik Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel where you will be accommodated. Spend the rest of your day at leisure. The downtown is closely packed for walking and offers a range of excellent restaurants, cozy cafes and lively bars and clubs for those who want to experience the renowned Reykjavik nightlife.

Enjoy a guided small-group walking tour in the heart of Reykjavik with a friendly local. Over the course of a 2-hour walk, your guide will introduce you to the landmarks and highlights of the downtown area while pointing out great restaurants, charming cafes and interesting activities available in Iceland’s capital city. Later in the evening, if weather conditions allow, you will be taken for a tour in search of the magnificent northern lights, also known as Aurora Borealis. * Note that the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Visit some of Iceland’s most famous attractions with a guided bus tour around the classic ‘Golden Circle’ route in South Iceland. One of the major highlights on this journey is Þingvellir National Park, a place of great historical and geological significance that is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other attractions include the beautiful two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall and spouting hot springs such as Geysir and Strokkur.

Enjoy a tour along the beautiful southern coast of Iceland all the way to the village of Vik and back. We start with the magnificent Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Seljalandsfoss is 40 meters high and its main attraction, besides the scenery, is the fact that there is a pathway leading behind the waterfall and out the other side, giving visitors a chance to view the falls from within. The tour will also take you to the black volcanic sand beach south of Vik, Iceland’s southernmost village, to view the spectacular rock formations Dyrholaey and Reynisdranagar. The last stop before heading back to Reykjavik is the graceful, 60 meters high Skogafoss Waterfall.

Today is a free day. Opt for an excursion or simply enjoy the city. You will find a variety of interesting shops, design boutiques, museum, and galleries downtown, and the city offers many great thermal swimming pools and spas for those who crave extra relaxation. Today would also be an ideal day to try out a guided horseback ride or go on a whale watching tour from the city’s old harbor.

Day - 6 - Blue Lagoon and Departure

Today you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. The waters there are rich in Silica and blue-green algae, giving the lagoon its reputed healing powers and signature blue color. Relaxing in-water massages are available (optional), and guests can unwind in the saunas and steam baths or get a natural massage under the Blue Lagoon waterfall. The spa provides a wonderful last memorable taste of Iceland and ensures that you are fully rejuvenated when taken to Keflavik Airport in time for you to check-in.

Dear Iceland, you are simply awesome

Iceland is an amazing country. Sometimes you just can't believe your eyes especially when you travel with Hermes Voyages. Each and every tour packages of them are always my favorite.

The beauty of Iceland was simply awesome...

The trip to Iceland far exceeded my expectations. I wasn't sure what to expect as I have never been out with any travel agency, but this trip was fun and easy due to the excellent world tour package of Hermes Voyages. I would definitely recommend and also would use their services again.
