NORTHERN LIGHTS – ICELAND WINTER WORLD
On arrival at Keflavik Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel where you will be accommodated. Spend the rest of your day at leisure. The downtown is closely packed for walking and offers a range of excellent restaurants, cozy cafes and lively bars and clubs for those who want to experience the renowned Reykjavik nightlife.
Enjoy a guided small-group walking tour in the heart of Reykjavik with a friendly local. Over the course of a 2-hour walk, your guide will introduce you to the landmarks and highlights of the downtown area while pointing out great restaurants, charming cafes and interesting activities available in Iceland’s capital city. Later in the evening, if weather conditions allow, you will be taken for a tour in search of the magnificent northern lights, also known as Aurora Borealis. * Note that the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Visit some of Iceland’s most famous attractions with a guided bus tour around the classic ‘Golden Circle’ route in South Iceland. One of the major highlights on this journey is Þingvellir National Park, a place of great historical and geological significance that is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other attractions include the beautiful two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall and spouting hot springs such as Geysir and Strokkur.
Enjoy a tour along the beautiful southern coast of Iceland all the way to the village of Vik and back. We start with the magnificent Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Seljalandsfoss is 40 meters high and its main attraction, besides the scenery, is the fact that there is a pathway leading behind the waterfall and out the other side, giving visitors a chance to view the falls from within. The tour will also take you to the black volcanic sand beach south of Vik, Iceland’s southernmost village, to view the spectacular rock formations Dyrholaey and Reynisdranagar. The last stop before heading back to Reykjavik is the graceful, 60 meters high Skogafoss Waterfall.
Today is a free day. Opt for an excursion or simply enjoy the city. You will find a variety of interesting shops, design boutiques, museum, and galleries downtown, and the city offers many great thermal swimming pools and spas for those who crave extra relaxation. Today would also be an ideal day to try out a guided horseback ride or go on a whale watching tour from the city’s old harbor.
Today you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. The waters there are rich in Silica and blue-green algae, giving the lagoon its reputed healing powers and signature blue color. Relaxing in-water massages are available (optional), and guests can unwind in the saunas and steam baths or get a natural massage under the Blue Lagoon waterfall. The spa provides a wonderful last memorable taste of Iceland and ensures that you are fully rejuvenated when taken to Keflavik Airport in time for you to check-in.
